Baby Grow Monsters

Follow Me on Pinterest

Rex is growing at the rate of knots. With all this growing comes lots of old worn baby grows and T's. I know its sad but I also get really attached to certain pieces of Rex's clothing. So this is also a great keepsake for that favourite baby grow. ( Don't leave me hanging, I can't be the only one that has those favourites ?!)
So here is a little fun DIY project that I thought of to use all the worn and tattered old bits of Rex's.
Less in the landfill too x

All you need to do is get a grow and cut a card template design of a monster you have created.

Place the template on the grow.

Cut out allowing a 1cm seam allowance for stitching together. Then cut out felt details of eyes and teeth etc.

Stitch the details on before you stitch two pieces together.
Then place right side to right side and stitch together.
Then stuff, via a tiny hole you leave open after stitching, then top stitch the stuffing hole closed.

Ta dah ! There you have your mini Baby Grow Monster x

Childhood Memories

Follow Me on Pinterest

I love fisher price classic toys and have been collecting them for Rex for a while, and I am always on the look out for more. I loved them as a child and the bits I have found and given to Rex he has also loved so much.
So when I saw this Jack in a box in a charity shop this week I was so overexcited and for £1.50, such a bargain too. Its a bit battered and well loved but Rex is constantly playing with it. Just goes to show that the old toys are still the best.

DIY Cushions from Dresses

Follow Me on Pinterest

I have such a ridiculous amount of collected fabrics old and new, and collected from all over the world. Some of my favourite fabrics always come from old vintage, or retro pieces of clothing
1970's and late 1960's maxi skirts and dresses are the best as this style uses quite a bit of fabric, and therefore leaves you with more fabric to play with. After a good wash a damaged or marked dress that has seen better days, can be turned into a beautiful cushion.
Here's how you do it:
Cut the piece of clothing up into the biggest usable piece of fabric by cutting down the seams. Then place a cushion pad in the centre of your fabric. Cut around the pad allowing enough fabric to overlap in the centre of the cushion. Then pin and stitch up, and there you have an envelope cushion. No zips, no buttons, easy peasy. I got a bit carried away and made quite a few.

Don't you just love the mix of colours, textures and prints.

Hot, cold, hot, cool, then rain who knows what to wear with this crazy weather. This jumper ticks all the boxes and keeps you cheery. Plus a pair of clogs each for Rex and I, to keep those tootsies not too soggy.

Day at the beach

Follow Me on Pinterest

Making the most of what little time we have left of the summer, we went to Camber Sands on the weekend. Its such a fab British beach and haven't been back since I was kid. It brought back lots of fun memories, whilst creating some very special new ones.
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside !

Tashtastic T

Follow Me on Pinterest

I'm slightly obsessed with Moustaches. So any excuse to use them for inspiration for an appliqué design on a T-Shirt for Rex.
I just cut out a tash from some remnants of leather I had left over from another project. Then stitched it onto a cheap plain white T-shirt. I am so chuffed with it. So easy to add a bit of personality to an any old T with a bit of appliqué.

I know this is so cheesy both Rex and I wearing Hawaiian shirts, but I just couldn't resist.
I love a Hawaiian shirt and jeans combo.
As soon as you put one on you just feel so summery and happy.
