What to do on a wet very autumnal day ?

We went out collecting leaves looking at all the colours of the changing season.

Rex was more interested in ripping them up, licking them and finally eating them. I managed to salvage a few of them to make these little leaf people.

One Keepsake

I've been trying to make gifts for Rex so he can have keepsakes that will last longer than toys and that also have sentimental value. So for one of his first birthday pressies I made this 1 cushion which I will add to each year. Instead of filling it with stuffing. I filled it with some of my favourite clothing he has worn in his 1st year.

Remember Remember The 5th of November

Last night was Rex's first fireworks display for Guy Fawkes Night and there was no tears from my little snotty boy, I was so proud of him. He has inherited his mothers love of fireworks and of fairs. There was the most beautiful old swing carousel all hand painted, amazing all lit up in the dark. One of the great things in having a child is having an excuse now to be one yourself. I did feel like one last night too, seeing Rex see things for the first time opens your eyes to all the beauty in life.I even had a go on the waltzers.

Mama and Baba Style Brace yourself

Time for a bit of mama/baby style with braces and a bit of winter tropicana. Don't just keep those tropical prints for summer.

I didn't intentionally dress us both in braces, but this always seems to happen. We both ended up in B&Q the other day wearing denim dungarees and only noticed when we were in there that we looked like a pair of DIY plonkers.

Pretty Practical

I still find it hard to adopt a practical element to my clothing, it just doesn't seem to work for me. But I have had to adapt slightly, a compromise so to speak. But I refuse to wear ugly practical stuff. So when I clocked eyes on theses beauties I was sold. Vivienne Westwood for Melissa wellington boots practical perfection. I never thought I would say I want it to rain, but I do just to wear these. They are also wipe clean brilliant !
